Love to Help

We’re incredibly proud of our Love to Help employee volunteering programme, and anyone at Anglian Water can get involved.

Anglian Water is deeply rooted in local communities. We understand the importance of giving back, and we know that many of our people are passionate about supporting local causes in their spare time, and that’s where Love to Help comes in. It’s our way of backing their voluntary efforts and making a positive impact in our communities and the environment, creating fantastic places to live and work.

With Love to Help, our employees have the chance to truly make a difference in their communities. It’s not just about lending a helping hand; it’s about leaving a positive mark on local life. Plus, it’s a great opportunity for personal growth and development, as well as meeting new people and new experiences.

We’ve established a dedicated Love to Help team, who are here to help our people get involved and find out what kind of volunteering suits them best.

Our Purpose

We aim to bring environmental and social prosperity to the region we serve through our commitment to Love Every Drop.

Through volunteering and supporting charitable organisations, who tackle some of our region’s biggest environmental and social challenges, we are living by our Purpose – giving back to our communities and protecting our environment.

“I volunteer because I love to be part of an improvement. Whether it’s giving a 6 year old the chance to experience caving, climbing, and archery for the first time, or giving a person the chance to safely litter pick and clear invasive species from the River Witham, knowing that I have helped someone improve and made a difference to that person gives me huge enjoyment.”

Loz Hobday, Information Communities Co-Ordinator

What is volunteering and how does it work?

Volunteering is doing something that benefits the environment, individuals or groups. This includes volunteering for; a charity; a community organisation; or a not-for-profit organisation.

Match Time

One of the ways you can make a sustained impact in your communities is to volunteer using our Match Time scheme. To support you with your volunteering both in work and outside of work, the business will match the time an employee spends volunteering in their own time, with an equal number of hours to do volunteering in their working day (up to 30 hours per year).

For example, if you log three hours of volunteering in your own time, the business will match this time in work hours to enable you to do three additional hours of volunteering.

Local Action

Anglian Water offers employees up to one day each year to spend doing a volunteering activity, either as part of a team or individually. Your day can be used at any point in the year. The Local Action helps us to forge stronger links with the communities we serve as well as making a difference to our customers and the environment.

The Local Action should support one of the following three areas:

  • Environmental volunteering
  • Volunteering with communities and customers in vulnerable circumstances
  • Skills and education volunteering
